I don’t normally review books that I read, and I read a lot of books. This book however, is written by a woman that I consider a great friend. Actually she is, “My sister by another mother”.

Debra is on Twitter, her name there is,@DebraDupree. She always has a kind word for everyone, no matter who it is. She has helped more people on Twitter than even she realizes.

Debra’s book is named, GOD’S Fragrance. I highly recommend that you pick up a copy and read it for yourself. It can be found here God’s Fragrance-The Fragrance Of Life
This book is about Debra’s path to finding God. She is brutally honest about everything, to quote Debra, “….I would rather help to spare your lives than spare your feelings.” She also shares a lot of her own trials in life. I have to admit, there were chapters that I laughed through and chapters that I cried. There are chapters where I did both at the same time!

Debra really hit the nail on the head with her words. There are people, I’m sure, that will be squirming in their church pews at her honesty, as well they should.
In the chapter, Christ in Christians, she says one of the most honest things I think I’ve ever heard out of a Christians mouth… “….Religion can make or break you as a Christian, because you can spend so much time being religious that you never end up knowing God and obeying Him according to His righteousness.”

She also shares examples of her writing before she was saved so that you can compare it to her writing after being saved. Now here I have to admit, I truly enjoyed reading her “before” writings. Knowing the Christian Debra as I do, I was in stitches reading all of the ‘bleeps’ she had to insert to her earlier writings in order to include them in this book. ( Sorry Debra, but it is funny).
She talks openly and honestly about her ongoing employment search. It’s not a good situation to be in and many Americans are in the same position but Debra’s faith in God is heart warming and I believe, as she does, that God has it well in hand.

Debra speaks of the importance of family with so much love and affection in her words it makes you want to call your own mother. She also tells about overcoming her fear of public speaking by reading a Scripture at the mother/daughter Mother’s Day Breakfast. The Scripture that she read that day is really quite telling and I would like to share that with you.

John 14:26-27: “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

That Scripture is significant in so many ways. In the book Debra refers to herself as “an infant disciple”. With that I must disagree, Debra’s Faith is strong, her love of God is unbreakable and pure. Her Testimony is powerful. Although Debra’s employment search is still ongoing, I believe she’s on the right path. I believe God has called Debra to spread His word through her writings. I don’t think we’ve read the last from Debra Dupree yet. I pray that we have not.

This 19 year old ex-cheerleader (now an Air Force Security Forces Sniper) was watching a road that led to a NATO military base when she observed a man digging by the road. She engaged the target (i.e. , she shot him). It turned out he was a bomb maker for the Taliban , and he was burying an IED that was to be detonated when a US patrol walked by 30 minutes later. It would have certainly killed and wounded several soldiers.
The interesting fact of this story is the shot was measured at 725 yards. She shot him as he was bent over burying the bomb. The shot went through his butt and into the bomb which detonated; he was blown to pieces. The Air Force made a motivational poster of her:

(Folks , that’s a shot 25 yards longer than seven football fields!)
And the last thing that came out of his mouth .. was his ass!
